Help with local XML editing.

XML File Tools and XML Editor process document contents on your device. Most problems can be diagnosed without sharing the file.

XML will not open or save

Check the reported syntax error, encoding declaration and document format. The full source editor accepts supported files up to 25 MiB; larger files use a bounded preview and separate byte-edit workflow. UTF-8, UTF-16LE/BE, Windows-1252 and ISO-8859-1 are supported. Invalid XML stays available for repair; source saving requires validation. Formatting changes layout, so retain your original and check output.

DTD and local resources

Documents with DOCTYPE require Enable local DTD validation and any required local DTD attachments. Ordinary outline and query inspection does not process DTD documents. DTD validation inputs are limited to 8 MiB and 64 attached resources. Resource URI aliases resolve only to attachments; the app does not fetch remote DTD or schema URLs. XSLT 2/3 stylesheet source compilation is unavailable in the Linux app; compatible compiled SEF execution is a separate tool.

Linux Snap file access

Try Open in the installed app and choose a non-hidden file in your home directory. External drives under /media, /run/media or /mnt may require: sudo snap connect xml-editor:removable-media. If the original XML cannot be written, keep your edits open and check the source location and permissions. In the full editor, Tools > Save XML project can preserve the document and settings in a separate project file; this does not save changes to the original XML. The full editor does not provide a separate Save As action.

Local sessions

Closing the app does not erase the XML editor's saved local sessions. Save important documents or projects before clearing browser or app storage. Reopen a local source to restore source-save access after restoring a session.

Contact support

Use the Support or feedback control in the Loam dashboard at https://www.loamdata.com. Include the page or app version, operating system, approximate time and non-sensitive error text. Do not include private XML, schemas, stylesheets, credentials or access tokens. XML Editor does not automatically attach files or provide a separate direct support-submission form.
